We are so thrilled you have bound a policy with us! Welcome to the family! We want to make sure you are fully equipped with all the information you may need. So now that your policy is bound and active, here’s what you need to know.

1. Electronic documents. Unless you sign up for electronic document delivery, you will get a hard copy of your policy in the mail. If you did sign up for electronic, but would like a hard copy, let us know! We always have access to these documents and are happy to print a copy for you. This goes the same for binders, declarations pages, ID cards, etc.

2. Mortgages/Lienholders. If you have a mortgage on your home or a lienholder on your vehicle, we do input this information into your policy, as well as in our system. We make sure that the company gets a binder (a copy of your policy) for the vehicle or home with them listed as an additional insured. This allows them to know that they have an insurable interest in the home or vehicle, and if applicable, knows how much to pay (this is for homeowners insurance only).

Two important instances to note:

Some of these banks take a while to process this information due to the volume of clients they hold. This can sometimes cause them to send a scary notice stating they do not show you have insurance, and they are going to purchase some for you. The good news? This is an easy fix. We ask that if you receive this notice you give us a call or email us a copy of the letter right away, and we will handle it from there.

Another instance that can happen is your mortgage company takes a bit too long to process a payment for your homeowner’s policy. If you receive a cancellation notice from the carrier, it is important you reach out to us immediately. Although we do get notified eventually, normally it is once the policy has been canceled, and by then it could be too late. We can discuss your options to keep the policy from canceling and help to make sure the bank processes the payment on time.

3. Renewals. At the time of your policy renewal, usually about 30-45 days beforehand, you often will receive your updated policy documents in the mail. 99% of the time these documents get to you before they get to us. If you have any questions about the renewed policy, want to discuss changes or your new premium, or need to make any changes, please reach out to us. We are happy to set up a time for you to meet with your agent and discuss. Around this time we will also send you an email containing the link to a form; one for your homeowner’s policy, and one for your auto policy (if you do not have one of the policies with us, you will not receive the form). We would greatly appreciate it if you filled out these forms so we can make sure all of your information in our system is accurate, and that your policy still accurately fits your needs.

An important note: If you happen to only have one policy with us, whether it be a home with no car, a car with no home, or only one policy for your business, your renewal is a great opportunity to look at quoting out other policies you may need, not only to see if we can save you money but carriers often offer what is called a “bundle” discount, which could save you even more money! Reach out to us at any point in time, we are happy to answer any questions you may have.

4. Support. We want you to know we are always here for you. If anything comes up, whether it be a claim, a question, you purchased a new vehicle, updated your kitchen, your child got their license, or you need another policy, we are happy to help. There are many ways you can get in contact with us, and we have made sure to make them all accessible to you below.
