You install a beautiful above-ground swimming pool. It’s a great place for your family to relax, cool off, and build memories. The question is, how is that covered on your homeowner’s insurance policy? Does it fall under “Other Structures” or under “Personal Property”?
Surprisingly, it depends on the carrier. It is always best to check with your insurance agent who will confirm with the carrier how they handle it. Sometimes, carriers indicate that if it is an inground pool, it would likely be “other structures” and if it is above ground, it would likely be “personal property”, but that is not true for all carriers. Let your agent know when you have installed a pool so you can know how you are protected and make sure you have the right amount of coverage for the pool.
